It is one of the oldest higher technical institutions in the south of Ukraine. During the 90 years of its existence, the Polytechnic University has largely contributed to the development of the Ukrainian and world science and engineering, as well as to the preparation of qualified staff for the national economy. The University alumni successfully work in all regions of Ukraine and in 91 foreign states.
During the long years of its formation stage and development the Odessa Polytechnic University has turned into a leading educational establishment of Ukraine and a large research centre which has played and continues to play an important role in the development of education and science.
Its high prestige has been created by the numerous outstanding scholars who have worked for the University and are recognized not only in Ukraine but also beyond it.
The University is in partner relations with enterprises, companies, educational establishments and research institutes of Ukraine and some foreign countries. It is open for co-operation with whose who are eager to contribute to the development of higher education in Ukraine.
Not all of the 90 years of the University existence were without difficulties, and the last decade of the 20th century was probably the most challenging due to the enormous changes in the life of the state. However, the University staff and students have always been able to withstand any difficulties which seem minor in comparison with their achievements and success.
The University enters into the last decade preceding the University centenary full of energy, plans and expectations.
